Freight Nest

Terms and Conditions

Last updated: 1st January 2026

Please read these Terms & Conditions carefully before booking haulage through Freight Nest. By requesting a quote or booking a shipment with us, you agree to be bound by them.

Your attention is drawn in particular to Clauses 5 (Our Role), 8 (Liability), 9 (Claims) and 10 (Insurance), which limit our liability and set out your responsibilities as a customer.

1. Definitions

2. Who we are

Freight Nest is a UK freight broker. We arrange full truckload (FTL) and part load (LTL) haulage across England, Scotland and Wales by matching your shipment with a suitable haulier from our network.

3. These Terms apply to every booking

By asking us for a quote, confirming a booking, or otherwise instructing us to arrange haulage, you accept these Terms in full. These Terms apply to every booking you make with us, even if we don't repeat them each time.

4. Quotes

4.1 Quotes are based on the information you give us (postcodes, pallet count or weight, dates, and any special requirements). If that information is inaccurate or incomplete, the price may change.

4.2 Quotes are valid for 2 days unless we say otherwise, and are subject to haulier availability at the time of booking.

4.3 We reserve the right to adjust a quoted price if circumstances change before collection — for example, a different weight or dimensions to those originally provided, additional handling requirements, or waiting time at collection or delivery caused by you or your representative.

5. Our role

5.1 Freight Nest acts as a broker, not a haulier. We do not own vehicles, employ drivers, or physically handle, store or transport your Goods ourselves. Our role is to introduce you to a suitable haulier from our vetted network and to arrange the booking on your behalf.

5.2 Once a Haulier has collected your Goods, that Haulier is responsible for the physical carriage, handling and safekeeping of the Goods until delivery, in accordance with their own trading terms and applicable law.

5.3 We check each Haulier in our network for appropriate licensing, insurance and a satisfactory track record before adding them to our network, and we'll act promptly and reasonably if something goes wrong with a booking. However, because the Haulier — not Freight Nest — physically carries your Goods, our liability is limited as set out in Clause 8.

6. Your responsibilities

You confirm that:

6.1 The information you give us about the Goods (nature, weight, dimensions, packaging, special handling needs) is accurate and complete;

6.2 The Goods are properly and adequately packed, labelled and palletised for road transport;

6.3 You (or your supplier/customer) will make the Goods available for collection, and accept delivery, at the agreed time and place;

6.4 You have the right to arrange transport of the Goods, and they are not dangerous, illegal, or prohibited from carriage by road without prior written agreement from us.

6.5 If any of the above turns out not to be true, you agree to cover any resulting loss, cost, fine or claim that we or the Haulier reasonably incur as a result.

7. Payment

7.1 Unless otherwise agreed in writing, payment is due [PAYMENT TERMS — e.g. "within 30 days of invoice date" or "prior to collection"].

7.2 We may charge interest on overdue amounts in line with the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.

7.3 Additional charges may apply for waiting time, failed collections or deliveries caused by you or your representative, re-delivery attempts, or amendments made after a booking is confirmed.

7.4 If you cancel a confirmed booking, a cancellation charge may apply depending on how much notice you give — see Clause 11.

8. Liability

8.1 Freight Nest acts solely as a broker, arranging haulage on your behalf. We do not carry, handle or store your Goods at any point, and we are not a party to the contract of carriage between you and the Haulier.

8.2 Once your Goods are collected, the Haulier is solely responsible for their carriage, handling and safekeeping until delivery. Any claim for loss, damage, delay or misdelivery of Goods in transit must be made against the Haulier directly, under that Haulier's own trading terms and insurance. We will help you identify the correct Haulier and pass on the necessary details to support your claim, but we are not liable for that loss, damage, delay or misdelivery ourselves.

8.3 Freight Nest's own liability is limited to arranging your booking with reasonable care and skill. Where we are found liable for any breach of these Terms or negligence on our part, our total liability to you — for any and all claims arising from a single booking — is limited to the amount of our brokerage fee for that booking, and shall not in any event exceed [£AMOUNT].

8.4 We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss of profit, loss of contract, or loss of business, however caused.

8.5 Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else that cannot be lawfully excluded or limited under English law.

8.6 By booking with us, you acknowledge and accept that Freight Nest does not accept liability for the value of Goods lost, damaged or delayed in transit, and that you are responsible for arranging appropriate insurance for your Goods — see Clause 10.

9. Claims

9.1 Any claim relating to a booking must be notified to us in writing within [NUMBER — commonly 7 or 14] days of the delivery date, or the date the Goods should have been delivered.

9.2 We will pass on notice of your claim to the relevant Haulier and assist you in pursuing it in accordance with that Haulier's terms.

10. Insurance

10.1 Unless you specifically instruct us in writing to arrange goods-in-transit insurance, and we confirm in writing that we have done so, you are responsible for insuring your own Goods.

10.2 We strongly recommend that you check what level of goods-in-transit cover applies to your shipment (whether through the Haulier, your own insurance, or cover we arrange) before booking anything of significant value.

11. Cancellations and changes

11.1 If you need to cancel or change a confirmed booking, contact us as soon as possible.

11.2 Cancellations made less than [NUMBER] hours before the agreed collection time may be subject to a cancellation charge of [PERCENTAGE/AMOUNT], to cover costs already committed to the Haulier.

12. Force majeure

Neither party is liable for delay or failure to perform caused by events outside their reasonable control, including but not limited to severe weather, strikes, port or road closures, or other circumstances that could not reasonably have been avoided.

13. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The version in force at the time you make a booking will apply to that booking.
